Ilene Ada Kann, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 1:56 A.M. on Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Spiritrust Lutheran Skilled Nursing Center, in the Village at Shrewsbury. She was the loving wife of Richard B. Kann, who passed away on January 11th, 2007, almost a year after celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Ilene was born on April 11, 1925 in Conewago Township, daughter of the late Paul and Myrtie Ella (Fetrow) Weigel. Ilene attended the York School of Beauty Culture. She was a homemaker and was skilled at sewing, canning, and baking. She was a 4-H leader and assisted with the Cub Scouts. She worked at New York Wire in Mt. Wolf, Danskin in York, and provided child care. Ilene retired from Danskin after 20 years of service. Ilene and Richard enjoyed traveling, fishing, snowmobiling, playing bingo, and spending time with their friends and family. Ilene is survived by two sons and their wives, Richard B. Jr. and Constance Kann, of Shady Side, Md., and Barry E. and Cynthia Kann of Hummelstown, Pa.; two granddaughters: Kimberly and husband Capt. Mark Podrazik, and Lisa Raley; and three great-grandchildren: Cody Farber, Luke Podrazik, and Allison Podrazik. The family would like to thank Mrs. Virginia Kauffman of Visiting Angels, and the staff at Spiritrust Lutheran Skilled Care Center who provided loving and compassionate care to Ilene in her final years. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10th, 2018 at the Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St. Dover, PA. Officiating will be her Pastor, Aaron Cope. Pallbearers are: Michael Kann (nephew), Curtis Kann (nephew), Francis Duncan (niece's husband), Terry Kehr (niece's husband), Steve Rath (son's brother-in-law), and Sandy Zdrojewski Jr.(son's friend).

363. Mary Elizabeth Kann
Mary E. (Kann) Baker, 90, died Friday, October 7, 2011, at Manor Care North. She was the wife of the late Maurice W. Baker.
She was born June 20, 1921, in Conewago Township, a daughter of the late John H. and Savilla (Eisenhower) Kann.
Mary had worked for McCrory's 5&10 Store in York. She was a member of St. Paul U.M. Church in Manchester where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed flower gardening, playing cards, and sewing when she was able.
Mary is survived by a son, Philip M. Baker of Manchester; a daughter, Sherry A. Lenz of Emigsville; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Fairy J. Stare of York. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and several brothers.
Burial will follow in Mount Rose Cemetery.

Earl F. Kann, 83, died at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2005, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothea W. (Richards) Kann. The couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on November 18, 2005. He was born September 7, 1922, in York, a son of the late John H. and Savilla (Eisenhour) Kann. Earl had worked for Temco, York, as a spray painter and assembler.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the 83rd Chemical Battalion Co. D.Earl enlisted on October 5, 1942 and served until October 16, 1945. He was awarded two purple hearts. He was a member of the 13th Ward Political Club; Hawks Club; Mildred, PA American Legion Post 452; West York VFW Post 8951; Starview Sportsman Association; Radar Gun Club, Sullivan County; and Disabled American Veterans Association. In addition to his wife, Earl is survived by two daughters, Peggy L. Gross of Manchester and Bonnie L. Duncan of Red Lion; a son, Michael L. Kann of York; five grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Mary E. Baker of Manchester and Fairy J. Stare of York; a brother, Richard B. Kann of York; and a stepsister, Emma Shaffer. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Dover Union Cemetery where veteran's honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie Whittier, pastor of St. Paul's Red Run United Church of Christ, East Berlin. YORK Dorothea W. Kann, 86, died at 12:55 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Earl F. Kann. Born July 1, 1925, in Clearfield, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Beatrice (Turner) Malehorn. Dorothea was a homemaker who had also worked at the BonTon and the York County Courthouse snack bar. She was a former Girl Scout leader and had been a member of Mildred American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothea is survived by three children, Peggy L. Williams of Wellsville, Bonnie L. Duncan of Red Lion, and Michael L. Kann of York; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Chester Richards. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Dorothea's viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012, at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Fairy J. (Kann) Stare, 83, was called home on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Manor Care North. She was the wife of her beloved late husband Ronald E. Stare who passed away on March 4, 1999. Born September 10, 1931, in Dover, she was the daughter of the late John H. Kann and Savilla J. (Eisenhower) Kann. She was a member of Senior Center of York and the VFW of West York. She was also a member of The American Legion Auxiliary of Shiloh, where she started the Christmas Dinner for the Veterans in the nursing homes around York and the veterans from Lebanon V.A. Hospital. Surviving are her beloved children, Jacob (Bud) Berkheimer of York, Nancy Platts wife of John of Dover, Vicki Kehr wife of Terry of Dover, Carla Green wife of Steven of East Berlin, Ronald (Ron) Stare husband of Rendy of York; and stepdaughter, Sharon Stare of York. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded by two stepsons, James Stare and Lonnie Stare; one grandchild, Brandon Platts; six brothers, Horce Kann, John Kann, Robert Kann, Raymond Kann, Earl Kann, and Richard Kann; two sisters, Esther Kann, and Mary Kann; and a half-sister, Emma Snowberger. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Dover Bethany United Methodist Church, 4510 Bull Road, Dover. The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. at the church with Jeanne Spahr officiating. Burial will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap at the convenience of the family. Jacob A. Berkheimer, Jr., 79, died 4:30 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2007 at his home. He was the loving husband of Lottie M. (Eisenhower) Berkheimer. The couple celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary July 14, 2007. He was born October 20, 1928 in East Manchester Township, a son of the late Jacob A. and Annie M. (Miller) Berkheimer. Jacob retired in April of 1991 following 27 years of service as a laser process operator for Harley Davidson, York. He was a member of Dover Bethany U.M. Church; AARP; I.A.M. York Local #175; and Hawks Gunning Club. In addition to his wife, Jacob is survived by a son, Jacob A. Berkheimer III of Shiloh; three daughters, Nancy J. Platts and Vicki A. Kehr, both of Dover and Carla M. Green of East Berlin; a step-daughter, Joan E. Myers Goodman of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; a brother, Ralph F. Berkheimer of Dover; and two sisters, Arlene Stare and Ruthanna L. Laird, both of York. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth E. Berkheimer, Roy E. Jacob (Buddy) Aaron Berkheimer III of York, age 69, entered into rest February 18, 2019 @ 12:30pm. Born on October 2, 1949 in York, he was the loving son of the late Jacob A. Berkheimer and Fairy J. (Kann) Stare, and stepfather, Ronald E. Stare, Sr. He is survived by his stepmother, Lottie M. Berkheimer, and was a loving and bossy brother to Nancy Platts, Vicki Kehr, Carla Green, Ronald Stare, Sharon Stare and stepsister, Joan Goodman. In addition, Jake is survived by 11 nieces & nephews, Jenny Fisch, Jodi Morrett, Tabitha Allen, Joshua Rohrbaugh, John Green, John Goodman, Tennille Burkhart, Heather Stare, Michael Stare, Keenan Stare, and 15 great nieces & nephews, Mackenzie Leister, Elisa Palma, Joseph Morrett, Nicolaus Morrett, Zander Watson, Aiden Fisch, Summer Warnack, Bryce Warnack, Marley Rohrbaugh, Emily Fisch (who adored him), Connor Burkhart, Halina Moye, Sophie Burkhart, Malik Moye, Jr. and Coen Allen

Jake had a strong moral compass with a conviction to do things honesty and in fairness with equality for all. He also had a strong conviction about worldly things and life in general and will always be respected for staying true to his heart.He will be remembered for his love of cooking as well as perfecting many recipes he designed. He was also known for his yearly pig roasts for family and friends. He was an avid & very serious hunter and fisherman, who loved doing both with his nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Buddy would tackle anything. If there was a will, there was a way to accomplish most any task or issue. He could fix almost anything and because of his will to get things done, he was a man who knew a little about a lot and would happily share his knowledge. He was truly one of a kind. To know him and his soul was to appreciate and love him just as he was. Jacob Aaron Berkheimer, III was small in stature but mighty in presence with a huge & extremely warm heart who always made himself available when needed. Ruth had worked for Maple Press. She was a member of Mountain Grove Chapel in Dover where she was a former church pianist and Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Union Fire & Hose Co. # 1, Dover.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Lucille Leib of Dover, Sharon Steffan of York Haven and Diane Hartman of Manchester; two sons, Larry Hartman of North Dakota and the Rev. Dennis Hartman of Georgia; a step-son, L. Clair Delp of Wyoming; 18 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Hartman; and step-daughter, Fay Weaver.

YORK Pauline G. Graybill, 91, died at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, December 24, 2011, at the Lutheran Home at Sprenkle Drive. She was the wife of the late John E. Graybill, Jr. Born April 22, 1920, in Manchester Township, she was a daughter of the late Walter L. and Effie E. (Kling) Kann. Pauline was a homemaker. She was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church of Roundtown, where she had been a volunteer secretary, Sunday School teacher, choir member, and pie baker. Pauline also volunteered her time with the Northeastern Food Pantry. She was a member of Farm Women and the Emigsville Heritage Group. Pauline's passion was gardening. She is survived by three children, John E. Graybill III and wife, Iris, of Spring Grove, David W. Graybill and wife, Donna of York, and Judith A. Tatara and husband, Lenny of Hellam; four grandchildren, Andrew Graybill, Andrea Welker, Laura Espada, and Megan Tatara; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma Tassinari of York. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Kann.
